I first met Mr. Davis not long after my family came to live at 25 West Smith Street, Amityville in the Fall of 1995. We lived to the west of his son, Lawson, whom we called Jimmy. From the very beginning we had a good relationship with everyone on the Eastern side of the street. Like all West Indians who grew up in British colonial territories, we understood the simple value of common courtesy and we practiced what came to us from our lives in British Guiana, later known as Guyana and the Island of Saint Lucia. Slowly, we settled in our home and had the most meaningful relationship with our neighbors. Over time, we lost neighbors, to resettlement or the grim reaper in the case of our elderly neighbor. Al who, along with his dog, Benjie, left this world suddenly one night.
Our lives too proceeded on pace uneventfully. Then 2011 came as strange and as unknown except for the plan of God. Our neighbor, Alex Kosiorek, came across the street and asked us to take him to hospital. We agreed and our lives changed in many ways. Three years after we began taking care of Alex, my aunt, Iona, who lived in Illinois, died on 11/12/13 and not long after that, Alex Kosiorek himself died on 9/29/15 at age 99 years 6months.
As if unwilling to leave us doing nothing, we saw Dad Davis walking and we went on our next God-calling checking up on both him and Mom Marge. Visiting them to chat and pray with them was easy as they were equally easy to encourage. This we did for the rest of 2015 until July 2016 when we relocated to Illinois. It was there we heard from one of our usual calls with dad Davis that his beloved Marge had died. We kept our calls and during November, while we were in New York for the funeral of our mother, and our children’s grandmother, we were able to travel to West Smith Street for a time for a chat with Dad Davis not knowing that it was to be our last time together. The photograph attached celebrates that occasion.
To the extended Davis family our sincerest condolences. Jesus the Christ of God said, “Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted.” May you find peace knowing that he is reunited with his loving wife. God give you a time of true reflection as you treasure their memories. Blessings! May both Marge and Richard Davis continue to Rest in Peace!
From,
Randolph, Ann, Grantly, Ryden, Rayanne’ and Gainsworth Scott.

Uncle Rich you are gone, but will never be forgotten. You were a kind man and it was good to have met you on Bequia many years ago. You enjoyed a long happy life and will be sadly missed.
Love, Wesley, Ingrid and our family.
Rest in Paradise, dear uncle Richard.

My recent memories of my dearly loved brother Rich were our weekly Sunday ‘catch up’ phone calls. We would reminisce about ‘home’ and what we used to get up to as youngsters. Our laughter which was many our squabbles which were few. We shared so many special moments. Aunt Uda patching Rich’s shirt which he didn’t like one bit. To Rich it wasn’t a shirt with a patch it was a patch that was supposedly a shirt.
The last words my brother said to me was that he loved me & dear brother I loved you.
Your loving sister Bernice

Iselle brought so much love and enjoyment to Papi's life. From 3 years old she was doing puzzles with him, popping and eating popcorn, going with him on his morning walks, giving him his medication.. you name it. He was her world. He would watch the clock as it strikes 3pm, knowing she'll come running thru the door from school.
Her safety was his concern. He alway wanted her in his eyesight.
Iselle will deeply miss her Papi, he was the grandfather to her whilst her maternal ones were far away.
Unto his last days as in this picture she was being his sidekick.
Love you n will miss you Papi
Love your Iselle
