Merlyn May Mays also known as Mrs Evelyn was born to the late Lillian Stewart and Altimond Reid on August 25,1933 in Manchester, Jamaica. In her early years she attended Belfield Elementary school, then onto Cosmetology school in Kingston Jamaica. She worked as a hairdresser and a dressmaker before migrating to England in 1961. While in England she worked in a factory for 7 years, then migrated to the US in 1968. She cared for her home in Amityville NY, where she worked two jobs while attending Nursing school to become a home health aide. In the process of working she paved the way for her children to come to the US. Merlyn was a caring and loving person, she gave her heart to everyone. After 31 years of working at Dell Laboratories, she retired in 1999 to live out her glory days. Merlyn lived a bountiful life before becoming ill in early 2021. She was cared for by Cynthia (Princess) Pennant, her niece. On July 15,2021 she succumbed to her illness. Merlyn leaves to celebrate her home going, her children Errol, Joylyn, Faithlyn, Derick, Sharon and Junior. 22 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and her two sisters Hilda and Joyce. A host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and close friends.
