My sincerest condolences to Joe's closest family and friends. Joe was my mom's first cousin. Even though I never met him in person, we connected on facebook and he was a friendly gentleman with a great sense of humor. R.I.P. Joe.

I am so sorry to learn of Joe's passing. I first met Joe at my job in a local convenience store where he would shop on a regular basis. In all the years I knew Joe, I never knew the man to have a bad moment or a bad word about anybody or anything. He was remarkable like that. It made me want to be like him, to find that joy, that happiness despite all the rocky moments we all experience at some point in our lives. Joe always had the same answer--"find some joy" he would say--"You'll feel better." I could never feel joy in his passing, but I do find joy in having met him for what feels like a very brief time. A few years back Joe gave me a few of his poetry books, they were deeply written with emotion, meaning and thought. Today, I will try to "find some joy" like Joe would tell me, only that I was one of the lucky people who got to know Joe if only for a brief time. Rest in peace Joe. I was proud to be a friend. I won't ever forget you.
