Susan C. Johnson

Susan was born November 21, 1943, in Indaina, Pennsylvania to Kenneth F. and Mabel Kelly Smith. In the summer of 1968, Susan was married to John H. (Jack) Johnson and they eventually made Amityville their home. They have a son, Christopher who lives inStuart, Florida. She is predeceased by her mother and father, as well as her sister Jane Rhone. Her surviving sister, Joan Mullins lives in North Carolina with her son Kenneth.

Susan grew up in Blairsville, Pennsylvania where most of her extended family lived. She graduated from Blairsville High School in 1961. She then attended Nursing School in Altoona, Pennsylvania. After Nursing School, Susan attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania earning a bachelor's degree in Special Education/Elementary Education in 1965.

Her first teaching job was in Middle Country School District on Long Island teaching Special Education. She continued teaching at various schools while her husband was in the military.

She would then go on to teach in the Amityville School District for approximately 25 years as a Kindergarten teacher at Northeast Elementary School. After a combined 35 years of teaching, Susan retired in 2005.

She was a member of the Amityville Women's Club for several years, as well as the Unqua Corinthian Yach Club.

Susan love to travel, having visited over 29 countries. Her hobbies included painting, reading and boating,

Family and friends may visit at Powell Funeral Home, Inc. from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Sunday, March 3, 2024 to offer their condolences. Cremation will be private.
