Obituary of Joan Coleman

Joan Coleman, 67 of Long Island, NY passed away suddenly on February 7th, 2024.

Joan was born on June 6th, 1956 to Joseph and Theresa Vittorio in Brooklyn, NY. Upon graduating from SUNY Old Westbury, Joan began teaching at St. Luke's nursery school, where she would remain for the enitre tenure of her career. Upon retirement, between New York, South Carolina and Colorado, Joan spent time where her heart was, her children and Grandchildren. 

Joan was an incredible woman known for her beautiful smile, laugh and sense of humor. Her greatest joy came from the time spent with children especially her grandchildren. She led her life sharing an abundance of kindness and love with all, honoring God every second. She was the ultimate protector of her children and teacher of Gods love by leding a pure selfless life for others to follow. 

Joan is survived by her loving husband Dick, her children Rich (Dana), Erin (Bryan) and Jimmy (Tricia) and her beloved gradnchildren Dante, Amber, Autumn, Mason and Greyson. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 12th, 2024 from 2:00-4:30PM and 6:00-8:30PM at Powell Funeral Home, 67 Broadway, Amityville with wake prayers at 7:30PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated for Joan on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024 at St. Martin of Tours, 37 Union Ave, Amityville NY.
