Obituary of John E. Nemeth, Sr.

John Ernest Nemeth, Sr. passed away in Punta Gorda, FL on August 16, 2023 at the age of 91 years. He was a 60 year resident of Amityville.

John was an avid boatsman, loving both power (stinkpots) and sail. His Ocean Avenue was home to his small armada. Boating and fishing were his passion. Something he passed onto his family. When not cruising you could find John and his boat at Watch Hill along with his crew.

If John wasn't out on the water sailing, he was mowing his lawn, something he was very proud of. His children, their friends and later his grandchildren knew they could never ever ride their bikes over that front lawn under penalty of his wrath.

John served in the army during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge John attended Pace College making accounting his career choice. In addition to finance John owned a print shop. He ended his career at 87 years as the controller and Chief Financial Officer at Magnificao Enterprises, Inc. located in Florida.

John was predeceased by his parents Helen (Straub) and Ernest Nemeth and his son John E. Nemeth, Jr. John is survived by his loving and grieving family, his wife of 66 years, Madeline (Forstbauer), his daughter, Kathleen Mary (Nemeth) Crowley, five grandchildren, John Nemeth,III, Robert H. Crowley, Jamie Marie Nemeth Stahl (William), Kelly Ann Crowley and Patrick E. Crowley and his great grandchildren, Audrey Dittmar, Riley Stahl, John Nemeth, IV and William Stahl who were his blessings and treasures. John also leaves his brother in law George W. Forstbauer and his family and many nieces and nephews as well as his longtime friend of 80 years, John W. McCarthy and family.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Wake prayers will be conducted at 6:30 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 28, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Martin of Tours RC Church Amityville. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, E. Farmingdale
