Obituary of Todd R Warren

Please share a memory of Todd to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Todd Roman Warren, 53, of Bay Shore, NY departed this earth on January 5, 2022 after a lengthy illness. He was born to William (deceased) and Gwendolyn Warren March 4, 1968 in Staten Island, NY. He moved to Bay Shore at the age of 9. Todd was athletic participating in both school and club sports, excelling in baseball, football, basketball, track and field, and most especially soccer. He was a proud member of the Bay Shore travelling Soccer team called the Renegades (who played in Europe). Todd attended the Bay Shore Public School system until his senior year when he made a decision to join the Navy. That decision was the result of an ultimatum from his parents because he was not attending his classes, lovingly called “majoring in cafeteria.” His military career started out with him, at the age of seventeen, being appointed the lead for his battalion, thus garnering him his first stripe when he completed basic training. He achieved the rank of OS E4 which is a petty officer 2nd class. While he was in the Navy Todd graduated from High School. After leaving the Navy, Todd had many different occupations such as security agent, electronics assembler, and a loan accessor for Mid-Coast Mortgage. He also worked for NYNEX, Shoprite, Michaels, Long Island Teen Challenge (TC), Home Depot, Brunswick Psychiatric Hospital, and too many more to mention. Todd also strived to further his education, especially because he felt he had a call to share God’s word. He attended Lumbee River Christian College (formerly Native American Bible College), Suffolk County Community College, TCMI (Teen Challenge Ministry Institute), and Suburban Technical Island Drafting. The reason for the many starts, and stops was substance abuse. Todd tried hard to overcome his demons by volunteering to enter many rehabilitation programs such as: LITC, Brooklyn TC, Pure Life Ministries, San Diego TC, Orange County TC, Malachi House, Covenant House, etc. He struggled to be free, but more than that, he never gave up trying. He persevered. He knew God was his source. He never left God’s word for any length of time and he relied on the lesson taught in Matthew 18:20-22 from his loved ones. He was gifted with amazing insight into the interpretation of scripture. Even though it was hard for him to keep the bible’s teachings himself, he never stopped sharing the good news. Todd had two sons, Todd William and Malachi Isaiah, who have a twenty-five-year age difference. He loved them both, but each one will remember very different experiences with their father. Todd William was treated more like a sibling by his father, while Malachi had a father and son relationship. Todd was very proud of each of his sons even though the physical pain he was experiencing made it difficult for him to express. Left to mourn him are his sons Todd William (Rosemary) and Malachi; his mother Gwendolyn; his grandmother Mildred Davis; a host of cousins; and extended family.
