To Mrs. Howard & all the family,
I feel so blessed to have known Mr. Howard when I came to Amityville in 1971, rented one of his houses with Pam & started teaching with Tommy.
I admired him as a husband, father & family leader. He even took me flying & to visit his museum! My heart is with you all at this sad time. What a wonderful life he had.

A cup of coffee on the practice field
Lou working with punt returners at a Tuesday practice
A bite to eat at the Nautilus Diner
Vic's office after a game
Lunch at Vittorio's
Lou's office at the College
Lou workshop on Ireland Place
Lou's house
Friday night's at the Captain Quarters
Saturday morning team Church and team breakfast.....plus many other meetings......the common thread with all of these occasions was Lou talking to me about football and the strategies of the game. I am a true believer of his coaching philosophy and game time adjustments that had to be made.....or not made. I could go on and on...but I will STOP NOW and say thank you to Lou for all the memories...your wisdom, knowledge and energy helped motivate and inspire me when I was coaching. May the Good Lord keep you in his loving care..may you rest in peace my friend....Len Mattera

30 years ago I had the honor to work for this great Man at the Suffolk County Legislature. My best memory of him was about 5 years ago while I was visiting him at Farmingdale Collage Aviation School at Republic airport and his wife Margaret called when he got off the phone he had a big smile and said you know I married my high school sweetheart. Rest in peace my Friend Big Lou. Most sincere condolences to the Howard family

Dear Coach Howard and theHoward Family,
So sorry to here of your Dad's passing. He as well as you are two of my favorite Coaches of all time. You gave me so many opportunities growing up under your coaching style and I love you for it. I think of you every day when I step on the field to coach my players. You have had a tremendous impact on my life which is a direct reflection of your fathers guidance.
Miss you a ton and wish I can be with you during you and your families time of need.
Mary Jo and I send our sincere blessing to you and your family,
Love ya,
