Marietta was a very special person. She was strong in her heart and did not shrink from taking a just stand when faced with injustice, personally or professionally. She was a veteran who worked hard to further the careers of many others, veterans and co-workers alike. My deepest condolences to her family.

During this difficult time, I want the family to know my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Marietta was such a thoughtful and kind person. She shared her knowledge, she cared for and helped many, she walked with me every day during my pregancy (at the VA) even when she didn't want to, and she always kept in touch (even after I left NY). I, like many, will miss her.
To her family-My heart aches for you. I'm so sorry you have lost such a wonderful person.

Marietta was not a close friend but we knew each other very well. I have so much respect for her knowledge, her strength and her spirit. She gave it all whenever she did anything at work. She also respected others and I can sincerely say I never heard her say a mean word about others. I know she felt the need to do so and I wouldn't have blamed her. Marietta desserved a second chance to be such a recognizable force at the VA but she was denied that. We all must take the inevitable journey and we want to be able to make a difference. Marietta made a difference to so many and I don't think she ever knew this. Sadly I never got a chance to tell her. Marietta you were special.

To the family of Marietta.
I have know her since I came to the VA in 2008. She was a wonderful, warm and caring person and I adored her as she gave me so much insight and encouragement in terms of applying for positions at the VA in order to join the VA team to assist our nation's Veterans. She was such a considerate and helpful person and her personality was without parallel.
I will miss her deeply and may the Master of this Universe help all of her family, friends and loved ones find peace by celebrating her life and may she rest in peace.
With heartfelt sympathy - Evelyn Nowlin.

It is with great sadness that I write my thoughts and feelings about Marietta after learning of our collective loss. I had the pleasure and good fortune to be one of Marietta's supervisors at the Northport VA Medical Center. She was one of approximately 23 applicants who applied for one of two employee labor relations positions in the section I managed. I still remember her enthusiastic interview and the positive energy she exhibited. We knew she would be a great addition to our team when we chose her among the many excellent candidates we met. Marietta proved in a short amount of time that she was a wonderful employee and a major contributor to our service. She shared her expertise and ideas with everyone on our team and willingly took on new tasks to meet our customer's needs. As a manager in a busy program area, I replied on Marietta to meet multiple deadlines with accuracy and a high degree of competency. She never disappointed me. In addition to her dedication to her work, Marietta cared deeply for her children and family members. She often spoke of her love for her family. As a team member, Marietta cared, shared, and dared to implement new and innovative ideas. One of my favorite work photographs is one with Marietta and our award committee. We had donned sun glasses and wore flip flops for one of our many themed award ceremonies. My sincere condolences go to Marietta's children, husband, family, friends, and VA colleagues. We will all remember her smile and the many gifts she shared with us.
