Obituary of Daniel A Knight

Daniel Alexander Knight is the oldest child born to Dane and Aurelia Knight. He was born on October 20, 2001, at St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in NYC. Daniel entered this world a micro preemie born three months early weighing only one pound seven ounces.  The doctors gave him 24 hours to live. God called Daniel home on September 2, 2023; a month shy of his 22 birthday.

Daniel always loved music. Daniel would dance and move his head in his little custom wheelchair when would visit him and would smile his crooked little smile when he saw us.

Daniel loved Mickey Mouse ever since we can remember. Daniel was granted two make a wish trips, one from Make a Wish the other from The Marty Lyons Foundation and we picked Disney Word both times. When Daniel saw Mickey Mouse for the first time in person, his smile was magical and truly priceless. It was worth the 22 hours traveling to Florida to have our first family vacation.

Daniel loved his family, loved his sister Gabrielle and brother Joshua. They were their brother’s keeper and protector. When they were little, they thought that being in a wheelchair was how you were supposed to walk and since their big brother had one, they wanted one too. They both loved to climb on and go for a ride with Daniel.

June 22, 2023, Daniel received his High School Diploma

Daniel Alexander Knight, our hero our warrior, fly high and rest easy my baby. You are free. Free to walk tall. Free to run. Free to talk. Free to sing loud. No more pain No more suffering. Your family loves you so much and it was an honor, a privilege and a blessing to love you, to know you, and.to have you in our lives. You made us better to have had you with us. We will miss you terribly.

Daniel is survived by his parents Dane and Aurelia Knight. His siblings Gabrielle and Joshua Knight. His maternal grandparents Arthur and Sandra Jones. His paternal grandparents Richard and Maureen Knight. His Aunts Athena Gould (Dwayne Gould) Ta Jones, Emily Pena (Mario Pena) Lynell Chapman (Micheal Chapman). Cousins Sarah Gould, Mia Gould, Arion Jones, Anthony Chapman, Justin Chapman, and Mario Pena. And a Host of loving family and friends that were inspired by him.
