Barbara F. Hoogervorst of Copiague, LI on August 28, 2023. Beloved wife of 68 years to Jack W. Loving mother of Kathy Schaefer, Gary Hoogervorst and Ronald Hoogervorst. Cherished grand mother of Tracy Loso, Kayla Dick, Amy Schaefer, Kyle Hoogervorst, Jenna Hoogervorst and Lauren Hoogervorst. Adored great grandmother Jaxton Loso and Carson Dick. Dear sister of Robert Wood, the late Kenneth Wood and the late Donald Wood. Mrs. Hoogervorst was born in Amityville and graduated from the Amityville Schools. She was a Senior Girl Scout Leader and also taught Life Saving courses for girls. She and her husband enjoyed boating for over 50 years and were members of the Captree Power Squadron where she often participated in the Captree Capers putting on shows. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 2-4:30 and 7-9:30 pm. Barbara's life will be celebrated with Words of Rembrance by family and friends around 8:00 pm. Cremation will be private. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Hoogervorst's name as an alternative to flowers.
