We are here today to pay tribute, and respect to a wonderful woman who never asked for anything even though there were many things she could have used or needed.
Phyllis was as always there for everyone and without pause or questions she always did whatever anyone asked her to do for them.
Strongest most selfless person I know
She was a self sufficient hard working person. Never missing work no matter the weather or how sick she was. Mowed her own lawn and made most of her own minor repairs around the house. She would even make auto repairs like changing her own tires. One time her car overheated on sunrise hwy and instead of walking to a pay phone to call someone ( yes quite a bit ago ) she walked to the auto parts store and bought a thermostat and replaced it right on the side of the road. Most guys nowadays can’t even do that.
Phyllis loved, loved, loved sports. She was spoiled by getting to see 4 Super Bowls by her Giants and was alive for an incredible 18 Championships by the Yankees, Her best and most cherished professional sports moment came when the Rangers finally won The Stanley Cup. Those were only her pro sport enjoyments her best moments came from playing with, and watching us. She would come out and play whiffle ball, kick ball, and basketball with all the kids from the neighborhood. She would be there for every one of our games or events, and most definitely cheering us on louder than anyone there. In fact if one of us wasn’t playing that day we could hear her cheering for our other siblings from blocks away. Since sports were one of her greatest passions, her proudest moments were most definitely attributable to Kelly.
Seeing her Daughter make Team USA in soccer ( think it was called the US national team then ) and being put in the wall of honor or hall of fame in 2 different colleges.
Phyllis loved Animals never letting a dog end up at the pound she would often take in friends and families pets they could no longer keep. If we found an animal it was never brought to the pound she put it in the paper and posted it in the neighborhood and if nobody claimed it we kept it. Sometimes we would have 5 dogs and multiple cats at the same time. She always had a 30lb bag is cat food in her van to feed all the cats along her route. That’s just the kind of person she was, even if she struggled financially at times she always had that bag of food.
On a lighter note. For all of her strong characteristics there is one thing All her grandkids and kids will agree with. You would not want her around if you happened to trip up or down the steps, stubbed your toe or done any other silly little thing to hurt yourself because she would most definitely laugh loud and long at your mishap.
I’m going to miss my Mom so much and she’ll be a part of me and in my thoughts forever. I love you Mom!
