From Belinda and Tesia
Dan, you will be sorely missed. We’ve loved you for more than 30 years and your passing will leave an enormous empty spot in our lives. You were funny, smart and amazing. You could talk sports all day with Belinda and goddess spirituality with Tesia, too. We feel like we’ve lost a brother. We know you’re now hanging with the best of the best musicians. Trading war stories about being on the road.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rains fall soft upon your fields
Until we meet again…

After wondering where you’ve gone since mid December, I am sad and shocked to just find out you have gone onto the big stage in the universe. I relished the opportunities to have known Dan over the decades. Discovering our ancestral Mayo roots over a few Guinness and sharing our travel stories of Ireland.
So much a huge part of my life. I’ll miss your visits to Seattle and SF, camping and hiking in Mt. Rainier, wicked humor, quick wit, playing Wednesday night basketball, observing you answer every jeopardy question ahead of the buzzer, sailing and racing sailboats on the Bay, the concerts and being able to get together as you were passing through town, the various types of music, guitars and sense of humor we enjoyed and sharing our unique outlook and perspectives of the world. Tom DeBrino and Yoko won’t be the same without you. Say hey to Wesley Willis and GG.
You had to do the Irish Goodbye, but trust we shall meet again someday.

We met when I was 6 and you were 10. We were best friends for decades. You were the best man at my wedding. A true original with both the good and the bad that goes with being that. Smart, funny and stubborn you truly were your own man. I was influenced as my interest in guitar and music became my life by much of the music you loved and turned me on to. You will always be missed.

Can’t believe you’re gone . Just days ago you were posting on Joe’s book ( for 15 years you’ve posted) and now we’re posting on yours. I’m betting he was there to meet you…. and lord knows what y’all are up to now. We’ll miss you Dan Murphy but your memory and stories will stay with us. Until we meet again. Brenda Lennane

Q: What will you miss most about Daniel?
A: The funny things he said. As told to his Aunt Teddy by his mother, Terry.
Danny was young, I think about 6, he was having an argument with some friends in his yard. He came running into his mother and asked, "Hey. Mom is baloney a bad word? "No , she answered. Danny ran outside and she heard him yell "Hey you baloney ASS get out of my yard!". We had a good laugh at that one.

I will always remember his stories of being a roadie. Neil gave me a Joan Jett and the blackhearts pick he had gotten and as a junior highschool kid, I was impressed.
And him riding his ten speed down Hamilton Street, every day, no hands. He was a good guy, and I'll miss him.
