Obituary of Dolores H. Carroll
Dolores Helen Carroll, of Massapequa, LI, NY, passed away on September 2, 2022 at her home.
She was quite an amazing person. She was a young, very pretty woman, with black hair and startling blue eyes, when she met our GI father on St. Patrick’s Day in 1951. They married in December of the same year.
Our mother was 19 when she met our father on that evening. The young woman from Brooklyn, who had never been out of NY, went on to live in Germany, Okinawa, Northern Japan and numerous stateside locations.
Our father passed away at much too young an age, but our mother, who went from her mother’s house to our father’s house, who never drove, found the strength and courage to move on. She got a job; she figured out public transportation (not easy on Long Island) and carved out a meaningful life for herself. She loved working and continued to do so into her 80’s.
She was the beloved wife of the late William, and is survived by her children, Patricia, Michael (Carol), William (Val), John (Elizabeth), Steven and David (Christina).
She is also survived by her sister Charlotte (Jack) and preceded in death by her sister, Patricia (William), and brother, Robert.
She has ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
We all love her and will miss her forever.
RIP Mom.
