Obituary of Dorothy McElroy

Dorothy Mae Marrow was born March 13, 1834 to Christopher Marrow, Sr. and S. Elizabeth Marrow in Charles City, Virginia She departed this earth Sunday, January 23, 2022. Dorothy, Dot or Dotty as friends and family called her, loved to laugh and have fun. Growing up in the South with a large group of cousins, she did just that! After graduating high school, she moved up North to work, living for a while with an older cousin. It was here that she met Joseph Stevenson and they soon got married. To that union three children were born, Brenda, Gary and Curtis. After the death of her husband, she met and married Felix McElroy. Through him she met many great people who became her New York family. They loved family barbeques, card games and most of all bowling. Over the years she worked at several companies but made her 35-year career with the Post Office. She made many great friends there, one of whom being Losie Burton. She joined Holy Trinity Baptist Church February 19, 1978, and, worked with the Willing Workers who eventually combined with the Missionaries. She worked with them as long as she could and always supported and cheered them on. She formed many lasting friendships. She leaves to mourn, her daughter Brenda, son Gary, sister Susan, brother Christopher, Jr. (Sharon), bonus daughters Madeline and Saudia, bonus son Oliver, godson Brian and special sweethearts Michael Guidroz, Doris Harris and Glendora Geddis along with her nieces, nephew and many cousins. Gone before her are her parents, husbands Joseph and Felix, son Curtis, bonus son Tony (Shirley) and sister Alice. Remember she loved Holy Trinity Baptist Church and the Pastor and First Lady very much and she appreciated the love shown her by her church family!
