Lauretta “Chickie” Leach, formerly of Port Jefferson Station, New York, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 in her new home in Tolland, Connecticut. She was 74 years old. The daughter of Joseph R. Fox and Winifred (Tweed) Fox, she was born on March 19, 1947 in Harlem, New York. She was the sixth of nine children. Upon completion of her schooling Lauretta worked for the New York Telephone Company. While living in Astoria she met Richard B. Leach. They were married on October 9, 1968 upon his return from serving in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy. They were blessed with three children. In 1977 they moved their family to Port Jefferson Station where they spent the next forty plus years. Lauretta worked for Sears but her main passion was raising her children and spending time with her family. Lauretta was predeceased by her husband Richard B. Leach. They were married for 51 years and are now reunited in heaven. Survivors include her son James B. Leach and his wife Carrie of Monroe, New York; son Richard J. Leach of Port Jefferson Station ,New York; daughter Coreen A. Salerno and her husband John of Tolland, Connecticut; grandchildren Steven, Courtney, Kirsten, Kelly, Jessica, and Victoria; great-grandchildren Lawson, Taya, and Keagan; and sisters Kathleen Monaco, Mary Jane Baggott, Barbara Massenzio, Patsy McEwan, and Diane Hancock; and brother John Alonso. Lauretta was predeceased by her brother Patrick Fox and sister Winifred Angarola. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions can be made to: The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
