Obituary of Patricia McLaughlin

McLaughlin, Patricia of New Windsor, NY, formerly of Amityville, NY on September 20, 2021. Loving wife of Raymond McLaughlin. Beloved mother of David McLaughlin and John McLaughlin (Diana). Cherished grandmother of Michael and Andrew. Devoted sister of Catherine Fuchek (John), Irene Naughton, John Naughton (Ann) and James Naughton. Patricia graduated as Valedictorian from St. Agnes High School in College Point, Queens and attended Hunter College in Manhattan. She married Raymond McLaughlin on December 26, 1960 and moved to Amityville in 1965. Patricia worked as a Teaching Assistant in several of the schools in the Amityville School District. She enjoyed working in the Amityville High School Learning Lab helping students prepare for their Regents Diploma. After nearly three decades in the school district, Patricia retired in 2006. After retiring, Patricia volunteered to teach people who were preparing for their Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED) for several years. She also enjoyed helping immigrants study and prepare for their U.S. Naturalization Examination. She traveled extensively, visiting Bermuda, Canada, Austria, Italy, Scotland and Ireland. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and enjoyed hosting large Thanksgiving gatherings.
