Armatha Beverly Carter was born 7am December 8, 1931 in Long Branch TX to Bonnie Lee Smith and Mattie C. Jones. Armatha spent her early years in Long Branch TX where she was raised with her five siblings Leo, Gene, Gloria, Chestine, and Millinease before moving to Corona NY in 1940. On December 6, 1950 Armatha then, a novelties seamstress, married Washington Carter a young Salesman Entrepreneur. Their union produced three children, her son Mark and her twins Beverly and Glenn who she raised in Amityville NY. Armatha Beverly Carter continued her education receiving her Associates degree from Touro College. As she continued to touch the lives of others, her devotion and dedication to reach others did not go unrecognized. She was awarded United State Senate Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition by Hillary Rodman Clinton. She went on to receive countless other awards and certification to honor her selfless heart. Armatha Beverly Carter dedicated her life to Christ, her family, and helping others. Furthermore, Armatha was a hardworking woman who had countless roles. She was a foster mother for years, she spent 20 plus years working with individuals with disabilities at LIDDSO where she eventually retired as a manager. She picked up a second career at New York Times, and eventually retired from there. She continued to touch the lives of others by Volunteering as a Foster Grandparents at John Quincy Adams Primary School in Deer Park NY. She was a proud member of the Babylon Civics Association, where she devoted time toward the worthy cause of equity and equality in the community. The love and compassion she radiated made people feel so special earning her the nickname “Grandma”, she eventually became everyone’s Grandma. She was a faithful servant of the Lord starting at a young age. Dedicating over Fifty years of service to Hollywood Baptist Church as a choir director under the leadership of the late Dr. Rev.Andy C. Lewter. She continued her walk with Christ at Joybel Fellowship under her daughter’s leadership Pastor Beverly Ann Carter-Taylor as Mother of the Church. She last fellowshipped at Revelation Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Bishop Ronald Allen. She leaves behind her brother, Gene Smith, her sister Gloria Harris, her children, Mark Carter, Beverly Carter-Taylor, and Glenn Carter; grandchildren, Angel, ShaShi, VaShon, Lateef, Joshua, Sa’adia, Mark Jr. Great grandchildren, Jazmin, Imani, Amaya, Nyn, Kirsten, Justina, Avery, Jade, Keilani, Robert Jr and Great-Great-grandson Amir and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
