Obituary of Errol V. Roberts

Errol V. Roberts was born in Georgetown, Guyana on November 22, 1946 to the late Ralph and Mavis Roberts. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, and most of all a friend to many people. Errol was educated in Georgetown before he migrated to the United States to study refrigeration and air conditioning. Shortly after completing his studies, he enlisted in the United States Army, and was deployed to Korea for 2 years, and in the United States reserves for another 2 years. Upon returning to the United States, Errol held several positions in his field of studies. In mid-stream, Errol decided to pursue his passion for jewelry design, and was employed at the Diamond Exchange, and then later at Russell’s Jewelers. Errol was well-respected by all who knew him and well-liked by everyone he met. Errol enjoyed working with the public and so, at a later juncture of his life, drove for the Suffolk Transport, while servicing the Wyandanch school district, from which he retired. Errol was also an avid sports fan, enjoying numerous games with is son, Errol Junior, and his friends. In 1972, Errol met the love of his life, Mitsy Cummings, from Sav-la-Mar, Jamaica, W.I., and married her in 1973. Mitsy and Errol enjoyed 49 years of wedded bliss. They enjoyed traveling and vacationing with family and friends. In 1975, Errol and Mitsy moved to Long Island from the Bronx. Errol enjoyed manicuring his lawn and hosting many parties and BBQs. Ten years ago, Errol was afflicted by Parkinson’s Disease. He lost his battle with his illness on June 30, 2021. Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Mitsy, his daughter Flourett and his son Errol Jr.; his grandchildren Chantal, Sean, and Shane; and his great-grandson Tyson; his brothers Courtney and Patrick; his sisters Lynette, Claudette and Annie; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
