Obituary of Norman Gagnon

Please share a memory of Norman to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Norman Gagnon, of Amityville, NY passed away on February 8, 2021, at the age of 94. Norman Gagnon was born and raised in Fort Kent, Maine and lived most of his life in New York. A member of the Catholic Order of Marist Brothers until his early twenties, he later taught high school math in Maine before moving to California where he met his wife Elizabeth Molinari. They married and moved to New York, sharing a life of friendship and faith until her passing. Norman was a lover of dogs, long walks, friendly conversation, and football games. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth, his sister-in-law Catherine Molinari, as well as his brother Albert Gagnon, and his sisters Josephine Coty, Marie Perkins and Aurelia Obrovac. He is survived by his niece Anita Coty Findlen and her husband Patrick, as well as many other special nieces, nephews, and friends. Norman’s life was especially blessed this past year when he was befriended and virtually adopted by Jimmy and Michelle Giambrone, their daughter Lindsey, friend Juan, and many other generous friends in his Amityville community. Their love and support for Norman during this pandemic year has been heartwarming, humbling and so appreciated. Memorial contributions in Norman's name, as an alternative to flowers, may be directed to St. Martin of Tours RC Church Parish Outreach, 37 Union Ave., Amityville, NY 11701. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. All CDC recommended guidelines will apply to everyone entering the building; face coverings must be worn at all times, social distancing throughout the premises, limited physical contact and interaction. Because of the limited capacity regulations (50% which equals 63 people at a time in the chapel/building at Powell Funeral Home, Inc.) as set by New York State, we ask that all visitors limit their time with the family so as to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to pay their respects. As people vacate the building, additional mourners will be permitted to enter.
