Obituary of Glenn Peter Gardner

Please share a memory of Glenn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Glenn Peter Gardner of Amityville, LI suddenly on January 24, 2021. Born and raised in Queens Village, Queens, NY where many friendships were made, he met Mary and their story began. Glenn was a loving husband to Mary, devoted father to Lindsay, William and Kyle (Jaclyn Scorce) and devoted and loving "Pa" to Liam and son to Claudette and the late William Gardner. He was a truck driver for Teamsters Local 295 for many years until a bad back injury ended his career. One of his passions along with his children and grandson was, of course, riding his Harley's, his love for Vermont, his love for his animals and speaking to his mother everyday. Mary would affectionately call him "Home Base" and Mary herself an RN working long hours in a COVID 19 ICU for for the past 11 months, Glenn would stand up when she got home and give her a clapping ovation and call her "His Hero". It gives Mary comfort and she hopes all of Glenn's family and friends will take comfort also to know that Glenn, before he died, had a big smile on his face. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, January 29, 2021 from 2-4:30 & 7-9:30 pm. Wake prayers will be conducted by Deacon Richard Ferri at 7:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 30, 2021, 9:30 am celebrated by Reverend Gerard Gordon, Pastor, St. Martin of Tours RC Church, Amityville. Interment to follow in St. Charles Cemetery, E. Farmingdale. All CDC recommended guidelines will apply to everyone entering the building; face coverings must be worn at all times, social distancing throughout the premises, limited physical and interaction. Because of the limited capacity regulations (33% which equals 45 people at a time in the chapel at Powell Funeral Home, Inc.) as set by New York State, we ask that all visitors limit their time with the family so as to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to pay their respects. As people vacate the building, additional mourners will be permitted to enter.
