Michael Anthony White (fondly known as “ Mikie” or “Margo”) by friends and family was born on August 21, 1950 in Kingston, Jamaica West Indies. He was the second of two children to Leanora Walker White (Aunt Ruby) and Alphonso White. He was predeceased by his mother, his father and his sister Margaret. Michael’s high school education occurred at Excelsior High School and later he attended CAST (College of Arts, Science & Technology) now knows as The University of Technology where he obtained his Masters Degree. After college Michael worked at the Jamaica Blood Bank and in 1971 he began working at Ministry of Works and Communication as a Drafts Person. He worked at Ministry of Works for mote than 10 years and later joined Quality Dealers working as one of their top salesperson. In Jamaica, Michael enjoyed meeting up with his “boys” after work, playing soccer, basketball and eating (his favorite of course chicken!) Michael met and fell in love with his beautiful love Mauvalyn (Allison) White. They had one child in Jamaica, Kerena before Michael migrated to the United States in 1987. Shortly after in the same year, Mauvalyn and Kerena joined him where they resided with his sister Margaret and family in Windsor, CT. In 1989 Michael decided to move to New York with his family. In 1994, while in New York Michael worked at Orkin Pest Control as a service technician and later in 2000 as a Purchasing and Inventory Control Manager at New York Times. He retired in 2012. Michael added to his family while he lived in New York; two handsome sons Khaleel and Malik White. He loved his family with undeniable passion and was always there for them. He was the “homework” guru for his children and nieces. He was known for his “no nonsense” stand when it came to “Lesson time”. He taught his niece Althea and all his children to drive and was very proud of this feat. Michael was a member of the IEM Ministry where he worked tirelessly under the leadership of Bishop Denzil Cameron. He served as the head of the Men’s Ministry for several years. Michael moved and settled in West Babylon in 2008 with his family. He lived a quiet life enjoying his wife, children and two beautiful grandchildren. On October 3, 2020 at approximately 1:55 pm, the Lord saw it fit to call him to eternal rest. He is survived by his wife Mauvalyn White, 4 children; Michele White, Kerena Southerland, Khaleel White and Malik White, son in-law Sean Southerland, 2 grandchildren, Xavier Southerland and Quentin Southerland; niece Althea Wright, cousin Rupert Benjamin, sisters Pauline Grant, Loretta ‘Cherry’ Hay, Mazie ‘Shirley’ Brown; A host of nieces, nephews and friends.
