Obituary of Thelma Isaacs

Please share a memory of Thelma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Miracles happen, a most beautiful one happened in Georgetown, Guyana on February 20, 1932 and they named her Thelma Menezes. She was the second of five kids born to Carmen and Leonard Menezes. Thelma successfully completed her high school diploma and graduated from Carmel RC, Georgetown. She was known to be a diligent worker and became an excellent student who maintained high grades. Hard work and exceptional performances earned her the respect of her principal and teachers. After graduation, she started a career as a stylist and quickly mastered the gift of working with her hands. She left her career to dedicate all of her time raising her family. Thelma met and married Elton Isaacs in 1954, that union created seven kids, Denise, Roxanne, Orin, Karen Dawn, Kim, Michelle and Simone. In 1970 her husband immigrated to Brooklyn, New York. Thelma and the kids joined him some years later, moving the family to Amityville. A new career was born, Thelma started a successful career with Schwartz Electronics, retiring many years later this time to focus on caring for her grand kids. Her greatest pride and joy. Her favorite pastimes were her grand kids, cooking, feeding everyone she could reach by phone. Sending multiple peoples grocery shopping all at the same time. She never refused an invitation to go shopping in the malls. As with any miracle, if you were not present to witness it, you most likely would not believe it happened. Today from the outpouring of support and love seen shared by so many, the miracle is real just like her love for all of us. She leaves us with a SPECIAL MOTHER'S AWARD from loving so many kids as her own. Thelma Isaacs, you are forever cemented in our hearts and you will be missed by all of us everyday. We love you! Thelma journey to heaven started carrying her love for, sister Doreen Timothy, seven children, eleven grand kids, three great grands, nieces and nephews, in-laws and all her dear friends she loved as her own family. Grateful Appreciation The family of Thelma Isaacs wishes to express deep and heartfelt appreciation for your loving thoughtfulness and concerns, including cards, flowers, phone calls, emails, texts, visits, your presence here at these services, and especially your prayers. We also appreciate those who traveled near and far distances to encourage us during this time. May God bless each of you, and may her love and peace be with you always and forever
