I last talked with Don Marsden about 6 months ago. He sounded good, but it was sad that he was giving up his position as Music Director at Saint Mark's Church because he could not see the music. I will never forget Don. His ability with the organ; his affirming and encouraging direction of our little choir; his sense of humor; his little pet Whippet, his Indonesian puppets; his old Mercedes; his magnificent house; the old church he and Mary were remodeling for their summer home when Mary died. Don was wonderful person and a great friend. I shall miss him.

I knew Don from his time as music director/organist at St. Marks's United Methodist in Rockville Centre, NY. He was the consummate musician and diplomat. He encouraged the best in people and I never heard him be critical of anyone. He was able to get along with people of varying temperaments. I rejoice in his passing and mourn our loss.
