Obituary of Julius Devine

Please share a memory of Julius to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Julius Devine was born June 7, 1940 in Copiague, New York, the only child to Doris Devine and Julius Collins. He graduated from Amityville Memorial High School in 1958 and married his high school sweetheart, Juanita Winship, on October 22, 1960. On August 1, 1965, Julius and Juanita purchased their home at 32 Emerald Lane in Amityville, New York, where they would stay for more than 30 years and raise three beautiful daughters. Julius had a keen eye for technical drawing. He worked for Lawrence Ripak Inc., in Melville, NY, as a Non-Destructive Test Inspector from 1968 to 1998. Unfortunately, he was forced into early retirement after suffering a massive stroke that partially paralyzed his left side. Additionally, in 1991 he lost the love of his life, Juanita, who succumbed to breast cancer following a 10 year battle. Julius enjoyed music, Lionel trains, building model aircrafts, carpentry, traveling, and relaxing at home with family and relatives. In his later years, he spent most of his days sitting on the front porch, waving to anyone who would pass, talking with neighbors, or inside watching his favorite show "Cops". He found enjoyment in the simple things in life. He loved sitting in his comfortable recliner with his miniature poodle Peanuts on his lap, while listening to classic R&B music with the bass turned up. He also enjoyed watching the Weather Channel and Judge Judy (cigarette in hand of course). He found pleasure in catching the Mr. Softee truck for an ice cream which satisfied his sweet tooth, along with brownies, cookies and cakes. In 2015, Julius sold his home in Amityville and moved to Georgia to reside with his daughter, Keri for care. Julius "Bugs" "Daddy" "Grandpa" "Pop Pop" Devine passed peacefully in his sleep on March 11, 2019. His burial services will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Cemetary on Thursday, March 21, 2019. He is survived by his 3 daughters Keri, Sharon, and Angela, 3 grandchildren Alec, Jamen and Dorian, former wife Jackie Devine and sister and brother-in-law Jacqueline and Robert Glover. He was sincerely loved and will be missed by many.
