Dear EJ & Tracy,
Our deepest condolences on the loss of your dad. Your dad and mom were our friends for 48 plus year. They were so proud of you, Tracy and the boys! We cherish the memories of all our good times with both of your parents. Your dad will surely be missed just like we have been missing your mom. May dad Rest In Peace. He is now reunited with your mom. Both of them will watch over you, Tracy and the boys. May the memories you have of dad help you through this difficult time. Love, Denis & Carol

Dear Sharon, Gail, Kenny and EJ,
Paul and I had a wonderful visit with Ed (aka Ned to us) as we traveled from Maine to Virginia in October. I am so glad we reconnected and especially happy that so much of the family reunion in August was relayed to him by EJ.
Please know that the welcome mat in Maine is out! Your Dad loved that place and I know spoke of it often. For that matter, the welcome mat is also out in Virginia. Keep in touch and when it's convenient, send me your current addresses and contact information.
Sorry we are not with you now. We send our love and sympathy,
My brother, Nick Shea, and I were your dad's favorite and ONLY first cousins!

I am so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing, and truly regret being unable to attend his wake. I worked for him as a rookie cop in the 1st Pct., in the 1980s. It was still unusual at that time to see female officers, and we were often relegated to desk duties or ignored by the seasoned “brotherhood “. Sgt Madill was the exception to that rule. He made all the rookies feel welcome and comfortable, and encouraged me to pursue a car seat in Roosevelt which I did. He was a terrific boss with a great sense of humor and never hesitated to give practical advice about the job. During this holiday season I always remember a particular Thanksgiving in the1st, on a 4x12 shift. Sarge organized Thanksgiving in the Pct kitchen, everyone brought dishes and your lovely Mother, Celia, sent in a roast turkey for the troops. We set everything up, and Sarge ordered every cop in the precinct from every post, in shifts, to the stationhouse, to enjoy the feast. I am retired over 10 years now, but will never forget his kindness and both he and Celia’s generosity and kindness that Thanksgiving. He was a cop’s cop and a good man. I hope your own memories of him during this difficult time bring you comfort.
