Lynn Brown was born September 8th, 1950 to Annie McCoy and Robert Jones at Queens General Hospital. She grew up with her four sisters and two brothers in Long Island City until they moved to Jamaica, Queens. She attended and graduated from Jamaica High School. She married Brodus Brown in 1969 and the marriage produced four sons, Carlton, Brodus, Jr., Corey and Troy and one daughter, Roselyn. The family lived in Great Neck before they settled on Birch Road in Amityville.

 

Lynn worked throughout the years in various positions in between raising her children. She was employed for many years at Suffolk Community College as a secretary. In her later years, her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was  a second mother to her grandsons Michael and Brodus, III.

 

Lynn was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and received treatment at Sloane Kettering in Rockville Centre. She was in remission for and continued to enjoy life and her family until she lost her battle May 2, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

 

Lynn is predeceased by her mother and father, her brother Barney Jones and her son Brodus Brown, Jr. Lynn is survived by her children, Carlton Jones (Latisha), Roselyn Brown, Corey Brown and Troy Brown (LaToya) as well as a whole host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also leaves to grieve for her, her sisters, Betty McDonald, Carolyn Boyd, Rosalee Jones Watkins, Pauline Penn, her brother Richard Penn (Lisa) and her godson Tyrone O’Neal. Mourning her loss in addition to her immediate family is her good friend, William Whitley and a whole host of extended family and friends.
