James E. Carew 82, of Amityville, LI (formerly of the Bronx and Franklin Square) on February 23, 2017. Retired from FDNY Ladder Company 48 and NY Life Insurance Co.. Beloved husband of Mary Ann for 52 years. Loving father of James (Diane), Lynn Downey (Joseph), Patrick (Maureen), Kathleen Conti (Russell), Christopher (Kim) and Steven (Amanda). Cherished grandfather of James, Joseph, Marissa, Megan, Connor, Emily, Kerri, Carlee, Patrick, Jack, Christopher, Caitlyn, Kieran and James. Dear brother of Cyril (the late Una), Marie Heaney (the late Jack), the late William (Josephine) and the late Raymond (Sandy). Fond brother-in-law of Joseph DiLallo (the late Bonnie). Reposing Monday, 2-4:30 & 7-9:30 pm at the Powell Funeral Home, Inc., 67 Broadway (Rte. 110), Amityville. Funeral Mass Tuesday, 10:30 am St. Martin of Tours RC Church, Amityville. Interment St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale. The family has requested memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, be directed to the Uniformed Fire-Fighters Assoc., The Thomas R.
