Obituary of Lola Isabella Scott-Martin

Please share a memory of Lola to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
God gives the most precious gifts. His gift to us was Lola Bennett as the most amazing mother. Born in Jamaica on January 29th, 1943, she worked primarily as a clerk. After marriage she gave birth to four sons raising them as best as she could. She left Jamaica in 1979 for the United States seeking a better life for herself and her boys. While in the U.S.A she primarily worked as a nurses aide until a back injury forced her into early retirement. Hewn out of strength of will, character, and faith in God, she was undeterred by perennial set backs. She therefore turned to other endeavors and had a hand in real estate and business entrepreneurships and especially her work with Symmetry Corporation. Lola for a second time was married to a kind and tender fellow by the name of Doug Martin who is no longer with us. She gave her four sons Garcia, Junior, Edward, and Dave new opportunities in America and watched as they grew as men. She loved music, was quick to smile and laugh, loved watching many sports such as track and field, soccer, tennis, car racing, and baseball. She was a big fan of both the New York Yankees and the New York Mets, and was the happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Her grand-children, Katia, Dietrich, and Aria was her utmost treasure. She was kind and generous to a fault without question. She knew when and how to provide a word of wit to those who would but open their ears. Her journey here this side of eternity came to a close June 20th, 2016. She was and is a child of God. She is survived by her four sons previously mentioned, and her adopted daughters Paulette Allen, Azur Scott, and Shurnet McKenzie. Her siblings who survived are Mavis, Neville, Norma, and Selvin. She will be forever missed. She is forever at peace.
